First assignment

Kid ChicagoLocal band, Kid Chicago, will be featured at Live at the Courtyard, a concert held at the Fine Arts Institute of Edmond on Thursday at 7 p.m. Members of Kid Chicago from left to right are: Reed Hoppe (drums), Tyler Sanders (bass), Antony Rosales (vocals, guitar), and Tyler Brownen (guitar).

Although I was the first person to show up to work this morning, the staff at the Sun had a full list of things planned out for me.

My first attempt at a photo, however, turned out to be a dud. I showed up at Pelican Bay to get some stock swimming photos to use throughout the summer, but was turned away because they said I needed to have waivers for parents to sign for me to use pictures of their children. That would normally be the park’s responsibility and I would just ask permission of the parents, but the powers at Pelican Bay had other plans. Too bad, it looked like a really cool swim park.

Too bad for them, too. I’ll just have to give free publicity to another local pool later this week.

So, dejected, I headed back to the Sun. When I arrived, there awaited local band, Kid Chicago. They were really cool guys. The band recently signed with Upstairs Production and recently finished recording album, “A City of Life.” You can check out Kid Chicago’s music here.

Later, I took some photos of a new gas station in town, OnCue. It’s 5,000 square feet and has a big electric sign that had to get special approval from the city. The reason it passed city ordinances is that is has an LED screen. They said this would be safer because it wouldn’t be flashing and wouldn’t require people climbing a ladder to change the sign.

Tomorrow, I start off shooting a PGA Junior Series golf tournament at KickingBird Golf Club at 8 am. Should be fun!
