Bike Edmond

Bike EdmondA group of bikers from Bike Edmond race down Coffee Creek road on Tuesday. The group, which sometimes exceeds 100 participants, meets every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Every Tuesday and Thursday evening this summer, I’ve seen this group of bikers meeting in the parking lot behind the Sun. I had chatted with a couple of them on occasion, but not much more.

So, I asked one of our reporters if the paper had ever featured them in a story – they had not. I could not believe that the bikers could have gone unnoticed. So with only a week remaining, I demanded we cover them.

Today, I went out and told them what I was doing and received one of the warmest responses I’ve ever gotten from a subject. They were thrilled that the Sun had taken an interest in their interest.

So, I got a few shots of them warming up and then tried my best to take back roads to go around their bike rout and get ahead of them to set up my camera and wait for them to ride into my frame. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I plan on going back out on Thursday to get some video and a couple of interviews.

Here are a few others from this evening.
