All-Edmond Golfer

Golfer Chandler RuskChandler Rusk of Edmond North was selected as the All-Edmond Golfer of the Year. Rusk will continue golfing next year as a freshman at Texas Tech.

Started today off at 11:30 a.m. So sweet. However, that’s because I’m so far over my 40 per week that they want be to get caught up. I wonder why…

My first assignment was to take a picture of a billboard. Easy enough, right? Certainly boring enough. I was given the address. 7800 N Broadway. Well, I assume (you know what they say…) that that means N Broadway in Edmond. Couldn’t find it. I continue heading north. I reach the area of the same road in Guthrie. Not there either. Double check with the writer and, of course, it’s in OKC. Whoops.

The billboard? It was an anti-prohibition as put up by police officers and others involved in law enforcement.

After that fun little trip of nearly 50 miles, I get back in time just to leave again to do the above golf portrait for the All-Edmond series. Chandler was a cool guy and quite the golfer. He’s been traveling all over this summer playing in national tournaments. According to Golfweek, he’s the 5th best player in Oklahoma.

I headed back to edit, and then left for something called ‘business after hours.’ I was asked to get “party pics” of people at the event. Blah. The one cool thing about it was that it was held at the Oak Tree Golf Club House. Oak Tree is one heck of a place to say the least.

I get to take off early Friday – again because of my excessive work. It sounds great in theory, but in reality, I will actually be doing the same amount of work with less time to do it. Not so great.

In addition to the numerous daily assignments and reporting odds and end, I have now been ask to sit with the person who “puts the paper together” in my spare time. Spare time? Put together the paper? I know nothing of either of those things. Should be interesting. Especially considering I am expected to learn proficiently enough to do that persons job next week. Interesting, indeed.

    do more with less.

    that’s journalism’s slogan right now.

next thing they add to the list: distribute.

keep up the good work. tiredness lasts a summer. impressions last a lifetime.

  2. zachgray says:

    Distribute? Explain.

  3. Patrick says:

it was a joke. they will plan to make you walk door to door and pass the papers out-distributing.

  4. zachgray says:

Gotcha. I couldn’t figure out what you meant haha. I put the PDF on the web. Hopefully that will be enough. lol

  5. Clay Lomneth says:

Hey Zach, thanks for the comment. Pat admires you a lot, and he’s right, you’re extremely talented. How’s the internship going?

  6. Patrick says:

also. i need your email…. for ISO

  7. zachgray says:

Thank you! The internship is going well. I have never been so busy taking pictures. Certainly not a bad thing. I could complain about the number of portrait/profile shots I have to do, but it’s been helpful. Because I’ve never really liked doing portraits, it has been something I lack in.
